Itinerary

[ DAY 1 ]

May 25 (Mon) – Stepping into Stillness: Arrival & The Zen Experience

  • Meet at Sendai Station and transfer to Matsushima.
  • Guided walking tour of Matsushima’s treasures (Oshima Island, Godaido Hall, Kanrantei Tea House).
  • Welcome Shojin Ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) lunch
  • Private tour and Zazen meditation at Zuiganji Temple, personally led by a Zen Master.
  • Check-in to hotel and Japanese buffet dinner.
  • Optional evening gathering to connect at the hotel lounge.

 

[ DAY 2 ]

May 26 (Tue) – The Art of Tradition: Morioka Crafts & Highland Nature

  • Train journey to the historic castle town of Morioka.
  • Authentic Soba (buckwheat ) Kaiseki lunch.
  • Cultural walk through the historic city of Morioka (Castle Ruins Park & the Konya-cho district).
  • Exclusive visit to a Nambu Ironware Studio to witness master craftsmanship.
  • Transfer to the tranquil nature of Appi Kogen for hotel check-in.
  • Seasonal Japanese dinner served at the hotel.
  • Relaxing evening tea time with Nambu Ironware.

 

[ DAY 3 ]

May 27 (Wed) – The Healing Forest: Appi Kogen Nature Immersion

  • Guided nature exploration of Appi’s landscapes led by a local expert.
  • Scenic outdoor lunch surrounded by the pristine wilderness.
  • Return to hotel for restorative free time to relax or explore on your own.
  • Optional pre-dinner gathering at the lobby lounge.
  • Modern Japanese dinner showcasing local gastronomy.

 

[ DAY 4 ]

May 28 (Thu) – A New Perspective: Summit Reflection & Farewell

  • Morning yoga session to awaken the body and mind.
  • Breakfast at the hotel followed by check-out.
  • Scenic Appi Gondola ride to the summit of Mt. Maemori for reflection time to integrate your 4-day journey.
  • Transfer back to the city of Morioka.
  • Farewell Japanese lunch featuring local specialties.
  • Retreat concludes upon arrival at Morioka Station.

What to Bring Comfortable walking shoes (there will be activities that involve walking in the mountains), comfortable clothing, rain gear, a towel, and insect repellent spray.
Notes This retreat is exclusively for solo travelers. Please note that children are not permitted to join.

 

Important Notes
This tour will be cancelled if the minimum number of participants is not met by January 31, 2026.

Once the tour is confirmed, we will notify all applicants by February 1. The remaining balance will be due by 11:59 PM on March 26, 2026 (Japan Time). Please refrain from booking flights or any other non-refundable arrangements until you receive this confirmation.

If the retreat is cancelled, all deposits will be fully refunded to applicants.

 

{ Shared Room Discount }

If you are open to sharing a hotel room with another participant, you will receive a $500 discount per person. Each shared room has two separate beds.

  • The discount applies only if another participant also requests the shared room discount.
  • Room sharing is only available with a participant of the same gender.
  • If we are unable to match you with another participant, please understand that you will be charged an additional $500 for a private room.
